Engineer case studies

Type: Video profiles & career highlights

When you think of an engineer what image comes into your head? Is it that of a middle-aged male in a hard hat?

Well...think again!

From structural engineers to environmental and energy engineers, we gave a number of engineers a video camera for a day and asked them to film themselves both at work and during their leisure time to provide you and your students with a realistic picture of what it takes to become an engineer - the sort of person you need to be, the amount of time you are at work, and how much free time you get. We also asked a few other engineers to tell us what makes their role as an engineer so special.

The 'Engineers around the world' section below provides you with links to interviews with different engineers working abroad. If your students have a passion for travel this may just inspire them and get them thinking of where engineering can take them. The sky is not the limit...l

If your students are considering a career as an engineer they may find these case studies helpful to get a sneak peek into the life of an engineer.
