This new careers section has been designed with teachers in mind. If your students are looking for a career that is stimulating, challenging and inspiring then look no further than engineering.
Engineers solve problems to improve the world we live in; they make things happen; engineers use their imagination and analytical skills to invent, design and produce things that matter. They are team players with independent minds who ask questions and respond to problems with practical, creative solutions. Engineers are changing the world all the time.
As an engineer, your students could find themselves designing fighter jets (Aeronautical engineering), creating special effects for blockbuster films (Software engineering), helping Paralympians smash world records (Medical engineering), or determining the aerodynamic coefficients of a Frisbee (Sports engineering).
Use the navigation menu on the left hand side of this page to view our exciting profiles, search the STEM careers resources database linking to external organisations and visit our useful careers links page, helping you to guide your students through the career-making process whilst getting the most out of your planning and preparation time.
The IET offers a Post-16 Careers pack full of useful information about the routes to a wide range of engineering careers. It includes information not only on what university courses to choose, but the types of apprenticeships available.
