Information about the Faraday programme
Through the Faraday, the IET is providing a comprehensive programme comprising an interactive website with videos, games, quizzes, a range of challenges for schools to enter and four events around the country in March/April 2008.
The resources and activities for the programme have been designed to be genuinely interactive and dynamic and to provide young people with an increased understanding of real science, engineering and technology.
When visiting schools, your role as a Faraday engineer will be to provide students with:
- Insights into the real world application of science and technology
- An awareness of the skills and attributes required to be a professional engineer
- An introduction to the Faraday 08 website and challenges
- An awareness of the wide range of science, engineering and technology careers
- An insight into your personal professional motivation and job satisfaction.
Once you have completed a school visit, you will have a responsibility to report back to Education 5-19 at the IET using the downloadable report template:
Top tip As far as schools are concerned, your presence in the classroom is a fantastic resource. Teachers often struggle with finding ways to lift science and technology off the page of text books. Most students will not have met a professional engineer. All you have to do is show them how interesting your job is and why you like it. Enthusiasm can be very inspiring! |
